If you’re working on rear brakes and spot an actuator with an electrical connector, pause.
That’s part of your electronic parking brake system, and jumping in without the right steps can cost you — big time.
You’ll need a scanner to put the system into Brake Service Mode before you start.
Skip that, and you might end up blowing out the caliper piston… and replacing a caliper isn’t cheap.
That’s exactly what happened with the vehicle in the photo.
The caliper had to be replaced before we could even finish the job and bleed the system.
We made a house call to get it roadworthy enough to bring back to the shop and wrap it up the right way.
Doing it yourself isn’t a bad thing — in fact, sometimes it’s a great thing.
But only if you’ve got the right tools, equipment, and know-how.

Our family has been part of the automotive repair field for over 25 years. From running parts departments to overseeing fixed operations in large dealerships. We decided to take the leap and put in to practice all of the things we learned during that time. We learned how to do it right!
